Since 2011 Awasuka has been working on several community water and health projects in rural Nepal, approaching them in different aspects: rebuilding reservoirs, sand filters, water treatment, villagers training … But after many years of experience, it has been found that the most important issue is raising the awareness of local people about the need for water treatment. Water-borne illnesses continue to be the leading cause of death in Nepal, killing 13,000 children a year and many more. Comparatively, the earthquake killed 9,000.
That is why awareness sessions have been organized in a variety of ways, always being the most effective systems: songs and music. Knowing this, in 2013 the song WATER PAANI was composed, in order to create dissemination activities based on it: musical theater, music classes, leisure activities, workshops, training sessions, etc … All activities are always very fun and entertaining, as all the water related topics are played through the different parts of the song.
