ORGANIZATIONS

Cooperate: work together to achieve the same goal.

Awasuka is a cooperation program that has always been faithful to this definition, both in its projects and in its operation way. The program is not an organization itself, but a knowledge platform that promotes various projects and activities, from which other entities and organizations can benefit in order to implement them. Sometimes, despite working for the same goal, it is difficult for several entities to cooperate with each other, but Awasuka takes this challenge and incorporates it as an essential part of his path. Over the years, it has had various organizations coordinate themselves doing different and complementary tasks, which have varied according to the different periods and projects taken up:

2020-Present
Awasuka Program
From 2020, Awasuka will be developed from the Catalan NGOs Base-A and Fundació Privada Petit Món, Rotary Club Kantipur in Nepal, and with the collaboration of El Camí de la Solidaritat and CCD-UPC. Its main objective is to continue installing smokeless kitchens, with the challenge of being able to impact all the remote houses of the municipality (4200 houses in 250km2 – Census 2011) and promoting the protection and preservation of the historical-architectural heritage of the town of Bhimphedi, as architectural models with traditional seismic-resistant systems.
The global outbreak of the new coronavirus makes smokeless kitchens even more necessary, as potentially beneficiary families suffer from many lung problems.

2015-2019
Awasuka Program
In mid-2015 –after the Nepal earthquake– Awasuka Program was created, incorporating seismic-resistant architecture and some parallel projects. Until 2019, the program was developed by three Catalan entities: Base-A NGO, Amics del Nepal NGO and CCD-UPC University; and in Nepal, it is implemented by Agragaami Agricultural Cooperative and the Rotary Club of Kantipur.

Community Projects
Since 2011 the team has been working on community projects in rural Nepal, especially on water and health issues. In this period 2011-2015, the Catalan NGO Amics del Nepal worked with the support of CCD-UPC (Center for Development Cooperation at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia), and in Nepal with the support of Rotary International and Rotary Club Kantipur.
